Lottery Scam E-mails

Lottery scam e-mails are unsolicited e-mails that say that you've won millions of dollars for a lottery you never entered.  The scam artist may use the name of a legitimate lottery as part of the scam.  Generally, these e-mails originate somewhere outside the US, where the criminals can safely scam you, with virtually no chance of getting arrested or prosecuted.  At some point, they will ask you to pay some fee or fees to claim your prize.  A legitimate lottery does not ask this.  Once you are onto their scam, they will disappear and your chance of any type of recovery is essentially none.  We have included several recent examples throughout this website and below:

Dear Treasured Winner,

Good Day! My name is Donald wilkinson; the prize director representing the Goldman International Lottery foundation Claim Department. Further to our letter dated April 24th in which you were informed of your selection as the prize winner of our annual Three hundred and sixty thousand dollars (US$360,000.00 Dollar) award, we are yet to receive any response from you. Every year we enter 25,000 names from different sweepstakes and lottery databases worldwide including, and our network indicates that you were selected as a prize winner on August 28th 2006 and you still have not claimed your winnings for the sum of US $360, 000.00. Now we are required to notify you that if we do not hear from you within 3weeks from the day this letter is sent, your file will be closed and you will no longer be able to claim your winnings. Usually when a winner does not claim their money, there should be a note stating why before we can legally close their file. To elaborate further, this draw was held in Australia, where our head office is located. Your lot number drew lucky numbers 6-10-13-17-24-45, which consequently won in the 2nd category. You have therefore been approved for a lump sum pay out of US$360,000.00 from our North American payment office located in Montreal, Quebec should you claim within the 3week time frame. Now, we would like to explain to you the Federal and International Law governing the personal collections of cash prizes. According to Federal and International Law, prize winnings are released as soon as your non-residential/tax Clearance Fee is deducted. That will be the day that your cheque will be released from our remittance office. your clearance fee is a calculated amount and is required by Federal and International law. Note that since your winnings have been bonded to avoid alterations we cannot deduct that amount from your winnings so our office will be making available to you the clearance fee in the form of money order or certified check payable to you and as soon as you make that payment,you will receive your winnings in the form of a certified check on request,or by bank transfer directly into your bank account or any account nominated by you.

For security purpose and clarity, we strongly advise that you keep your winning information confidential until your claims have been fully processed and your money remitted to you. This is part of our security protocol to avoid double claims and unwarranted abuse of this program by some nominees. So once again, Congratulations to you!
