Lottery Scam E-mails

Lottery scam e-mails are unsolicited e-mails that say that you've won millions of dollars for a lottery you never entered.  The scam artist may use the name of a legitimate lottery as part of the scam.  Generally, these e-mails originate somewhere outside the US, where the criminals can safely scam you, with virtually no chance of getting arrested or prosecuted.  At some point, they will ask you to pay some fee or fees to claim your prize.  A legitimate lottery does not ask this.  Once you are onto their scam, they will disappear and your chance of any type of recovery is essentially none.  During the past year, we received many unsolicited e-mails that appear to be Lottery Scam E-mails.  We have included several recent examples throughout this website and below:

We wish to officially notify you of the result of our Rinex Internet Sweepstakes program that was conducted on the 29th day of July 2006 and that this email address which was attached to a Serial Number 76612 and selected by our E-games Selection System (ESS) has won you the recipient of this email address our promotional sweepstakes prize in the general category. You have now been selected among the winners to claim a total payment sum of USD$980,000:00 (NINE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY THOUSAND US DOLLARS ONLY) each as attaches to payment file Ref No: RHS-41394/82/06. We are aware of the surprises that do follow such a notification message based on the fact that you have not purchase a lottery ticket any time, but be informed here that it was a promotional program from our software companies with the major aim of introducing our sweepstake services and at the same time promoting the benefit of the Internet usage. All email addresses that were use for this program were extracted from the internet through our associates partners.

These approved funds can only be claimed by contacting the assign payment house attach to this program by the authority. Due to the nature of this program, we ask that you keep a copy of this email message safe until your claim has been processed and collected from out payment house; as this is the only security measure that has been put in place to save guild each winner interest.
