Community America Credit Union

Phishing Scam

The email claiming to be from Community America Credit Union and instructing you to answer personal questions to verify your account appears to be a phishing scam.  Phishing e-mails are e-mails from scam artists who use official looking webpages designed to trick you into believing they are from a corporate website that you have an account with.  Once you are at the site, they will ask you to provide or verify personal information such as bank account information, credit card information, social security information and password information.  If you get such an e-mail, you should delete it and do not provide any of the requested information.  However, if you are not convinced that you have a fraudulent e-mail, please contact Community America Credit Union directly and explain the e-mail you received.  If you give out any personal information, contact Community America Credit Union immediately and depending on what information you gave out, it may be wise to take measures to protect against identity theft (e.g. contact credit agencies, close accounts, cleanse computer).  Many e-mail solicitations that appear to be phishing e-mails are set forth throughout this website and below:

Dear Customer,

On April 29, 2007, Fargo Public Schools Federal Credit Union implemented an additional layer of security to protect you from identity theft and computer fraud! Just sign up once and you will be set to go. The next time you log in after setup, it will be business as usual!

The new technology identifies you as the true "owner" of your account(s) by recognizing your PASSWORD and your COMPUTER. If the computer you are using is not recognized by us because you have logged in from a public computer or one you haven't used before-you will be asked "challenge questions". These questions require simple answers that are personal and only you would know the answers. This is all done as an additional line of defense to prevent unauthorized access.

To sign up for Fargo Public Schools Federal Credit Union "challenge questions" please click the link below.
